Using a Phillips screwdriver (not included), remove the four (4) screws securing the faceplate to the module.
Carefully remove the faceplate of the breather module.
Insert the three (3) AAA batteries as shown on the module.
Place the faceplate back on top of the module, lining up the button on the bottom of the plate with the button on the module's circuit board.
Using a Phillip's screw driver, tighten the four (4) screws to secure the faceplate to the module.
Note the serial number on the back of the communication module. This will be used for commissioning in a later step.
Identify the mounting location on the cartridge.
Line the mounting slots on the back of the module to the mounting location on the cartridge.
Slide the module firmly into place.
Press the button on the faceplate of the module.
If the module is fully installed, then all three lights will flash yellow-green once, then all three will flash again with green.
The module and cartridge are now ready to be commissioned in the OPTIFY platform.
Locate a suitable oil plug on the gearbox.
Breather locations should meet the following requirements:
1. Breather mounted perpendicular to the earth with the top facing upwards
2. The oil plug to be removed must be above the oil level of the gearbox. Higher is better.
3. The use of desiccant breathers in Position D gearboxes is not recommended.
Clean around the oil plug and then remove the plug from the gearbox.
Thread an OPTIFY Breather adapter into the oil hole using the correct adapter size for your respective gearbox.
Thread the Breather cartridge into the adapter until secure.
Attach the communication module to the cartridge.
You are now ready to commission your Breather. Guides to help with commissioning are located in the same section of the Breather SwipeGuide.
Select the Asset to which you wish to commission your new OPTIFY Breather unit. Assets are located within the Assets tab of the mobile app.
Scroll down on the Assets properties page to the Sensors section. Select the Commission sensor button.
Ensure your OPTIFY Breather module has batteries inserted and is on. Then, select the device from the list of available sensors. Match the serial number on the Breather module to the serial number listed in the OPTIFY app.
Change the OPTIFY Breather's position name by typing the new desired name in the field. Then select the correct cartridge size, OB1 or OB4.
When the position name is chosen and the appropriate cartridge size has been selected, tap Commission.
OPTIFY will check the sensor's firmware and will update it if necessary.
Your OPTIFY Breather has been successfully commissioned. Note that it can take up to 1 hour for a measurement to be available while the sensor collects baseline measurements.
Navigate to the Plant tab.
Click Details on the asset you wish to commission your Breather to.
Click the cog icon next to your asset name.
Scroll down and click Commission.
Make sure your gateway has been activated and is on, and then select your gateway from the list of gateways.
Click Select by the Breather you wish to commission, then click Commission.
Click the drop-down arrow to select the type of cartridge installed on your breather.
Once you have selected the correct cartridge size, click Next.
Wait while the Breather is commissioned.
Click Confirm.
Your OPTIFY Breather module has been successfully commissioned. Note that it can take up to 1 hour for a measurement to be available while the sensor collects baseline measurements.
Remove the module from the spent breather cartridge by sliding the module up and off. Set the module and spent cartridge aside.
Identify the mounting location on the new OPTIFY Breather cartridge.
Line the mounting slots on the module up with the mounting location on the new cartridge.
Slide the module firmly into place.
Press the button on the front of the module.
If the module is fully installed, then all three lights will flash yellow-green once, then all three will flash again with red or green.
Open the OPTIFY app and select the asset your OPTIFY Breather is commissioned to.
Load a measurement. The app will detect that a cartridge replacement has been made. Tap Yes or No depending on if a cartridge size change was made.
If the cartridge size was changed, select between the two cartridge sizes, OB1 and OB4. After a selection is made, press Confirm.
The app will read measurements after the cartridge size is selected.
Your OPTIFY Breather cartridge has been successfully replaced.
Using a Phillips screwdriver (not included), remove the four (4) screws holding on the faceplate of the breather module.
Carefully remove the faceplate of the breather module.
Remove the batteries from the module.
Insert the three (3) new AAA batteries as shown on the module.
Place the faceplate back on top of the module. Using a Phillip's screw driver, tighten the four (4) screws to secure the faceplate to the module.
Reinstall the breather module on the cartridge by firmly sliding the cartridge down on the module mount.
Press the button on the front of the breather module and ensure that the battery status is shown as green.
If the module is fully installed, then all three lights will flash yellow-green once, then all three will flash again with red or green.
The batteries in your module have been successfully replaced.
Remove the old module from the breather cartridge by sliding the module up and off.
Check that the new module has three (3) AAA batteries installed correctly as shown on the module.
Slide the replacement module down onto the Breather cartridge mount.
Press the button on the front of the module.
If the replacement module is fully installed, then all three lights will flash yellow-green once, then all three will flash again with red or green.
In the OPTIFY app, select the asset which contains the Breather module you wish to replace.
Navigate to the Asset properties page and select the OPTIFY Breather from the Sensors list.
Select "Replace Sensor" from the Sensor Utility dropdown.
Your device will scan for available breathers in the area. Select the new communication module from the list.
Confirm that you are replacing the correct old Breather with the correct new Breather.
The Breather Module has been successfully replaced.
The OPTIFY Breather Sensor's Health Parameters are:
NOTE: The OPTIFY Breather only collects measurements approximately once an hour.
Breather Life is the amount of desiccant life left in the breather.
Breather life begins at 100% and decays as the breather cartridge is saturated. At 0% life remaining, the desiccant can no longer absorb moisture and the cartridge must be replaced.
Battery Life is the remaining life in the breather module's battery.
Battery life begins at 100% and decays as the battery loses charge.
Airflow Temperature is the temperature of the air passing through the breather.
The OPTIFY Breather Sensor's operational parameters are:
NOTE: The OPTIFY Breather only collects measurements approximately once an hour.
Index is the number of measurements the breather module has collected.
Saturation Direction indicates whether the breather is removing more moisture from the ambient environment, or if it is removing more moisture from inside the gearbox.
Rate of Saturation shows how quickly the breather cartridge is saturating in units of % per month.
There are two OPTIFY Breather cartridges: size OB1 and size OB4.
The OB1 cartridge can operate between -4F to 130F (-20C to 54C). The water adsorption capacity is 50 cc (2 fl. oz).
Use the OB1 Cartridge size for the following Dodge Gearboxes:
The OB4 cartridge can operate between -4F to 130F (-20C to 54C). The water adsorption capacity is 353 cc (11.3 fl. oz).
Use the OB4 Cartridge size for the following Dodge Gearboxes:
Maxum XTR 90-130
TXT 10-12
TDT 13-15
Torque-Arm II 10-12
Motorized Torque-Arm 9-12
